Roots and Shoots, Tops and Bottoms - CRPL Passport to the Parks

Did you know you can eat the green parts of carrots, or the stems of kale? Come and learn all about it!

The Cedar Rapids Public Library sponsors this Passport to the Parks event.

Every Monday starting June 10th through July 29th the Library visits a different park in the city. This year they’re partnering with Linn County Education Outreach and will be learning something new about agriculture — from how things grow to how to make a positive impact on the environment. The program is geared towards Pre-k – elementary aged kids. Attend more than five and earn an Ag Brag Certificate! The library will also be connecting each site to the closest community garden/urban farm to give families the opportunity to learn about food production in their neighborhoods and how to get more involved in their own food production.
